I recently found out my guitar is 15 years old, and IвЂ™ve had her for 5 years, so I do find myself constantly being вЂњout of tuneвЂќ, the D string in particular doesnвЂ™t have much in the way of tension and pops out of tune All the time, so being able to self tune in game is a real gods-send! It will also check youвЂ™re in tune on each play session too, so you can adjust accordingly.

It also gives you an option to tune your guitar first, which takes a bit of figuring out if youвЂ™ve never done it before but it does come naturally after a few goes. You can choose the type of guitar you want to play, from Lead, Rythm & Bass (I went with lead) and itвЂ™ll ask you if youвЂ™re lefty or righty. The opening menu is pretty self explanatory. I also had some notes from the last time I tried teaching myself, so I knew the rough notes and string positions. Something that hit home very quickly, as I plugged in the cable, went to tune my guitar and found no sound was coming out of it.

I know how to hold a guitar, I can play the opening вЂњpling pling pling, PLING PLING PLING,вЂќ string plucking from Metallicas Nothing Else Matters and was reasonably good at Guitar hero (I know, itвЂ™s not the same thing!) but that was it as far as my knowledge goes.

I have tried self teaching myself before around 5 years ago but failed miserably. One of my bucket list items is to learn the guitar. I went on the official website and found out people have been taking part in the Rocksmith 60 day challenge and thought I would give it a go. I managed to snaffle a copy of Rocksmith 2014 with the realtone cable on EBay for the very reasonable ВЈ40 ( the cable on its own retails at around ВЈ20) and started playing it yesterday.
